The Right Roommate!

Q1: Once I register, how long will the service last?

A1: The service period is 90 days from the date you sign up.

Q2: If I'm not sure which school I will be attending, can I select more than one?

A2: The database does not allow searching at several schools simultaneously. If you want to search at more than one school, you can do so by modifying your profile information under the "Modify" section of the web page.

Q3: If I lose or forget my password and identification number, how do I get new ones?

A3: E-mail the webmaster@college-roommates.com and they will issue a new password and/or identification number. For your protection, the webmaster will ask you some qualifying questions to verify your identity.

Q4: What if I don't find a compatible roommate?

A4: If you plan to live in the residence halls, consult with your school to determine the cut-off date for roommate assignments. If you have not selected a roommate by the cut-off date, then you will be subject to the assignment process. Therefore, don't wait or delay in contacting potential roommates.

Q5: If I transfer to a different school within the search period, will I have to register again again?

A5: You will be allowed unlimited transfers during the 90-day period. Simply go to the "Modify" section and select a different school.

Q6: If the roommate I selected doesn't work out, what do I do?

A6: You can resume your search as long as the 90-day subscription period has not expired.

Q7: Can anyone access my account information?

A7: Only you can access your personal information using your password and identification number. No one can gain access to the credit card information.

Q8: If I am experiencing a problem with my account, who do I contact?

A8: E-mail the webmaster@college-roommates.com and explain the problem(s). The webmaster will normally respond within one business day.

Q9: Can I choose a roommate of the opposite sex?

A9: For the residence halls, males are only allowed to search and match with males. Likewise, females will only be allowed to search and match with females. Therefore, answer the gender question correctly because it cannot be modified. Students living off-campus have the option of searching and matching with people of the opposite sex.

Q10: Can I get a picture of my potential roommate?

A10: If you feel comfortable, ask your potential roommate to e-mail or snail mail a picture.

Q11: How do I initiate more in-depth conversations with potential roommates?

A11: Just e-mail or phone them and introduce yourself. Most of all, be honest and be yourself.
